Velesto Energy Berhad (‘Velesto’ or ‘the Group’), in partnership with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), today launched the OSH-SURE Pilot Project, a structured framework aimed to strengthen safety readiness across the oil and gas industry’s contractor and vendor ecosystem.
OSH-SURE, evolving from Self-OSHWA since 2018, promotes safety standards and contractor readiness. As part of the ceremony, DOSH recognized Velesto’s contribution to the OSHWA Self-Assessment Manual and accredited Velesto Academy as an OSH‑Coordinator training centre.
Megat Zariman Abdul Rahim, President of Velesto said, “This initiative marks a strategic partnership where government standards meet private sector training capabilities to build national competency in occupational safety. With Velesto Academy now recognised as a training centre for OSH-Coordinator, we look forward in building capabilities and supporting DOSH in advancing national safety competencies.”
The ceremony, held at Putrajaya, was attended by Husdin bin Che Amat, Deputy Director General (Health) of DOSH and senior leadership from both organizations, industry partners, contractors, and vendors.
The framework will be continuously refined through field insights, industry collaboration and ongoing engagement with DOSH, forming the foundation for a long-term roadmap that elevates safety readiness at a national level.
