Velesto-INSTEP Drilling Academy (VIDA) is a successful collaboration between Velesto Drilling Academy Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS Technical Training Sdn Bhd signed on 19 March 2014, with a training centre residing in Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS’ (INSTEP) premises at Batu Rakit, Terengganu.

The initial idea to establish a training centre is to address Velesto Energy Berhad’s (VELESTO) requirement for skilled drilling personnel – which is key to the Company’s business expansion aspirations. With the formation of VIDA, Malaysia now has an established drilling institute which also aids in bridging any previous internal competency gaps in VELESTO and in turn guarantees smooth succession planning.

A direct result of this collaboration, a co-branding entity came to existence which further strengthened existing relationship with PETRONAS and other oil and gas players; while addressing the shortage of local skilled drilling personnel in the oil and gas industry in general.
